Finance is Civic — a facilitation guide for youth workers
“Finance is Civic” is a detailed facilitation guide for youth workers across Europe, and the project's second core result alongside the board game. It is built on a single conviction: finance is not a private matter. Every euro spent, saved, taxed, borrowed or invested is a social act with consequences for other people.
The guide brings economic theory and civic reflection together across 10 structured workshops of 90–100 minutes each. Every session moves from a civic framing question, through the economic theory and European context, to a step-by-step activity plan, and closes with group debrief and reflection.
The ten workshops
• What Is Money — Really? Money, trust, collective agreement and the euro
• The Price of Everything: markets, value and inequality
• Taxes, the Common Good and European Public Finance
• Debt, Austerity and the Eurozone Crisis
• Work, Wages and the Future of Labour in Europe
• Green Finance: climate, capital and the European Green Deal
• Housing, Wealth and the European Property Paradox
• Digital Finance, Data and the Platform Economy
• Banking on Solidarity: alternative finance and cooperative economics
• Money, Power and Democratic Action
No economics background is required to facilitate. Sessions can run standalone or as a full 10-part programme.
